Bertha Schrank
by: Anonymous

Bertha Schrank (Tanya) went on to become Bertha Case. Bertha was the literary agent for the Estates of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. She was also Anthony Quinn’s agent, amongst others. Henry Miller wrote letters to Bertha. Miller wanted the letters back, but Bertha told him they were destroyed. Those letters were given to Actress Dolores Sutton before Bertha’s death. Ms. Sutton sold those letters to the New York Public Library for $6000. I have the original, signed receipt from the New York Public Library. Interestingly, those letters have disappeared from the library. Ms. Sutton was a relative of mine.

elegantly starving
by: Owen Morenmore

ummm, that was great.
I, too, am a fan of Miller's and have enjoyed following his footsteps in Paris. Interesting that Miller and Hemingway would frequent the same fancy restaurants, though separated by some half-dozen years. I've never figured out how starving writers could afford those places, though, they both knew how to get the most out of their admirers.
Happy Life Together, Eric and Amy!
