Using the above map you can get some very good walking directions for Paris 1st arrondissement to use to get you around the city of Paris.
Click on the map at your starting point. Click on the map at your ending point. Then click the "Get Directions" button and there you are.The directions are fairly accurate for walking.
Do keep in mind that there may be construction or detours not mentioned on the maps. And always look out for traffic
You can get directions for multiple stops too. That way you can plan an entire days walk with directions and stops along the way.
Say that you want to go from the Musee d'Orsay to the Eiffel Tower and then on to the the Arc de Triomphe and ending at the Place de la Concorde. Click on all thos destinations in the order that you want to visit them.
Then click the "Get Directions" button. The map will return a walking route with clear dircetions.
You can plot up to 10 points this way and then print out the walking directions for a day trip around the city.
Another helpful feature is the Street View option. See that little orange man on the zoom controls? Drag and drop him onto a place on the map and you'll get a "street view" of the spot. It's a pretty cool feature. It allows you to see the route you are going to take, the sites along the way or what the front of your hotel looks like.
